Protect your privacy: adjust this setting in Edge browser now
*UPDATE: Microsoft seems to have removed this controversial image enhancement feature following privacy concerns.

While we highly recommend the Microsoft Edge browser, we have recently discovered a privacy concern that we wanted to share.
It’s always a good idea being in the know about what your browser is up to behind the scenes. And guess what? There’s a somewhat concerning setting in Edge that you might want to hear about. It’s the one that sends the images you view online straight to Microsoft.
You might be thinking, “What’s the big deal?” Well, it’s all about privacy, especially for South African business owners out there who need to keep their business safe. After all, who knows who might be peeking at your browsing history?
But don’t worry, disabling this setting is quick and easy when you know where to look. Just follow these simple steps:
- Open up Microsoft Edge and click on those three dots (“More actions”) up in the top-right corner of your screen.
- From the drop-down menu, select “Settings.”
- Scroll down and click “Privacy, search, and services.”
- Look under the “Services” section and flip that toggle switch off next to “Improve your web experience by allowing Microsoft to use information about websites you browse to improve search suggestions, or to show you more relevant advertising.”
That’s it! With just a few clicks, you’ve put a stop to the image-sending feature to Microsoft.
Of course, there are other nifty settings in Edge that you might want to explore too, like the ones that let you control your data collection preferences or the ones that limit on pop-ups and redirects.
It’s important to take a moment to check out all your browser settings to safeguard your online privacy and security. By knowing exactly what your browser is up to, you get to decide which data to share and what to keep under wraps. And who knows, it may also be a chance to uncover useful features you never knew existed.
Don’t worry if you’re not a tech whiz. Microsoft has made it easy to understand these settings with their clear explanations and helpful tips along the way.
