When Technology Makes Room for Compassion: GZD’s Donation to a Local Child Welfare Organisation
Durban, 4 March 2026
Every day, behind closed doors and far from the spotlight, social workers and support staff make life‑changing decisions for vulnerable children and families. Their work is emotional, demanding, and often overwhelming, and yet, they show up anyway.
At the Pinetown‑Highway Child & Family Welfare Society, this commitment plays out quietly and consistently, as teams work to protect children, support families in crisis, and restore stability where it has been lost.
Recently, Global Z‑Data (GZD) had the privilege of supporting this work by donating 3 fully equipped desktops to the organisation, not as a grand gesture, but as a practical act of partnership.
Because in environments like these, technology isn’t about speed or convenience.
It’s about time.
Time to return a call.
Time to document a case properly.
Time to focus on a child instead of a frozen screen.
For many non‑profit organisations, outdated or unreliable equipment becomes an invisible burden, slowing down already stretched teams and adding frustration to emotionally heavy work. The donated equipment will help strengthen administrative capacity, improve communication, and support accurate case management, small changes that make a meaningful difference in day‑to‑day operations.
“What struck us most was the dedication of the team,” said Grant Olivier from GZD. “These are people doing incredibly difficult work with limited resources. If reliable technology can remove even one obstacle from their day, then it’s worth it.”
The impact of the donation goes beyond devices and cables. It helps preserve dignity. It helps reduce stress. And it allows skilled professionals to focus where their attention truly belongs — with children and families who need care, stability, and advocacy.
For GZD, the donation reflects a deeply held belief that technology should serve people, not distract them from their purpose.
“As a business operating in KwaZulu‑Natal, we don’t see ourselves as separate from the community,” added Rajesh Harie. “We live here. We raise families here. Supporting organisations that protect children isn’t corporate social responsibility, it’s simply the right thing to do.”
The Pinetown‑Highway Child & Family Welfare Society expressed sincere appreciation for the support, noting that the equipment will directly assist their team in delivering services more effectively in an environment where every moment matters.
GZD remains committed to using technology as a force for good not just in offices and boardrooms, but in the hands of people who are quietly changing lives, one case, one family, and one child at a time.

Sometimes impact doesn’t look dramatic, it looks like a working laptop, a relieved team, and one less thing to worry about.
