You Control What Microsoft Copilot Remembers
How much should AI know about you and your business? Microsoft is starting to answer that question with a major update to Copilot.
Until now, Copilot has been great for quick tasks—summarising text, drafting emails, answering questions—but it didn’t retain much about you. Every new session felt like starting from scratch, limiting how “personal” the experience could be.
That’s about to change.
Microsoft is introducing memory management to Copilot, giving you full control over what it remembers. You’ll be able to tell it to “remember this”, and soon, a dedicated memory management page will let you review, edit, or delete stored details whenever you choose.
This means Copilot can build useful context about your business while keeping you firmly in control.
Why does this matter?
Imagine the time saved if Copilot remembered your preferred report formats, key client names, or proposal templates. No more repeating the same instructions—just get straight to work. And if something changes, you can update or clear that memory instantly.
There’s more: Connectors.
Copilot already integrates with OneDrive, but soon it will connect to Google Drive too. This will allow you to fetch documents, summarise folders, or extract insights from stored data without opening each file manually. More services are expected to follow, creating a seamless way to work with your information.
These features are rolling out across the web, Windows 11, and mobile devices. Some will be free, while others may be part of Copilot’s paid tier.
Copilot is evolving into a smarter, more personalised assistant—one that learns from you while keeping you in control. That balance is key: the more Copilot remembers, the more useful it becomes, but you decide what stays and what goes.
